June 2, 2025

It is our pleasure to let you know that, pending school board approval, Chris Aggen will become a part of our team as our new High School Principal, effective July 1. A warm and compassionate leader who puts fostering positive relationships with students and his colleagues at the top of his list of priorities, Chris believes in our motto of “Every Student, Every Day,” and is excited for this opportunity to become a Gilbert Tiger.

“I am truly humbled and excited for the opportunity to be the next principal of Gilbert High,” Chris said. “I am dedicated to building on current successes and continuing the Gilbert Community School District tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts. This is home for my family and I am honored to serve the students, staff, and community of the school district I call home. Go Tigers!”

Already residents of the district, Chris and his wife, Michelle, have two young sons – Caffrey, 6, and Easton, 4. Michelle is an assistant volleyball coach and Director of Volleyball Operations at Iowa State, and Caffrey will wrap up his K-Prep year at Gilbert Elementary today. Easton will officially become a Tiger as well in the fall when he joins the preschool class at our elementary building.

Chris grew up in Worthington, Minnesota, and brings three years of administrative experience to Gilbert, including a year as a middle school and high school principal at Baltic Schools in Baltic, South Dakota. For the past two years, Chris has served the Perry Community School District as the Director of Elementary Learning Supports, and then also as the Associate Elementary Principal this school year.

During the interview process, Chris made it clear that he considers Gilbert a destination job. With an energetic and friendly personality, he is eager to hit the ground running and continue to build upon the positive culture of our high school building and the outstanding achievements of our students.

Gilbert is where Chris and his family want to be. With his passion for education, his commitment to our students, and his desire to bring positive energy to our administrative team, we’re confident he is the leader we are looking for at Gilbert High School.
